Dieting and Disney World are not two words I would have said in the same sentence. But now that I am embarking on a journey to become myself with Medifast in 2013, it was something I not only said, but I stuck with it.
Before traveling to Disney World, I called Medifast’s Nutrition Support team and spoke with a nutritionist about the best plan of action for eating on our vacation. Luckily all of the Disney restaurant menus are available on the website, so I was able to look up what each restaurant served.
During the trip, my family and I ate at three different restaurants and prepared the rest of our meals at our villa. At restaurants, I asked the server to have meat and veggies prepared without seasoning; the chefs had no issues with my requests. Many restaurants are accustomed to serving patrons with allergies, so minor requests from me were no challenge.
For my Medifast Meals, I stuck with Crunch Bars, Cereal Crunch, and Puffs during the week. These Meals were easy to eat on the go—and we were always going! I also carried a large water bottle and filled it up throughout the day. Getting in my five Medifast Meals and all of my water was easy.
When I got home, I got on the scale and was surprised to see that I lost three pounds! (Results vary. Typical weight loss is 2-5 lbs per week for the first 2 weeks and 1-2 lbs per week thereafter.) I always gain when we go to Disney World, so to come home with a loss was a major achievement and well worth my efforts. Plus, since our vacation didn’t revolve around food, we were all able to see and do more in the parks.
If you are planning a vacation, I urge you to take time to look at the menus and try to plan in advance. You can stick with the Medifast program if you are willing to dedicate yourself to it.
