Rather than spending New Year’s Eve dreading a big resolution that might not last until February—try adding one, small resolution every month for the entire calendar year. Here are some fun, easy, and rewarding ideas to make 2015 your best year yet.
January- Take the stairs. By simply opting for the stairs you can easily rack up extra daily exercise.
February- Turn off your phone when you’re driving, in a meeting, and/or during dinner. Set aside an hour or two each day to reconnect with the world around you.
March- Go on a walk every day. Make it your social hour and bring a friend.
April- One day a week, cut out sugary beverages by substituting with water. It’s a great way to cut down on calories without nutritional value.
May- Join a class. Take a dance class or join a weekly book club to stimulate your mind and body.
June- Take yourself out on a date. Go to a movie, have dinner, or visit a spa—you deserve to treat yourself once in a while!
July- Volunteer. Make time once a week for a cause close to your heart. You can make a difference!
August- Learn a language. You won’t be able to master a language in a month, but you can get a head start in just 20 minutes a day.
September- Take on a project. Pick a project and focus on finishing it by the end ofSeptember.
October- Get outside. Spend 15 minutes a day outside and get some Vitamin D, butdon’t forget to put on some SPF.
November- Try a new recipe. Pull out your favorite healthy cookbook and open up to any random page, whatever it is—make it. Try doing this once a week.
December- Smile! Studies show that smiling every day can make you happier. Take 60 seconds each morning, and smile at yourself in the mirror.
First of all, I love the idea of having a goal or resolution for each month. That is truly a realistic concept! Secondly, I love that the goals suggested by a weight loss blog are not just about weight loss, but about ways to make yourself healthier and happier. I might tweak a few of them, but I want to try this idea in 2015. Thank you for sharing! :o)
what a good idea to add something each month rather than trying to do it all at once and giving up by the end of January! Thanks!
This is a great list. Very do-able. Thanks for the burst of motivation!
