On May 20, Medifast employees came together to assist the Maryland Food Bank, a nonprofit hunger-relief organization, in preparing meals for their Supper Club and School Pantry programs. From chopping cabbage and celery, to weighing soups and spinach, we were able to help provide pre-packaged meals for distribution to local schools.
The Maryland Food Bank provides more than 100,000 meals per day to meet immediate needs while also striving to reduce hunger in Maryland. While assisting the Food Bank, Medifast employees were able to portion and package food to send to branch distributors who then dispense to local schools. The Supper Club and School Pantry are partnerships created by the Maryland Food Bank in order to provide children and their families nutritious meals through local schools and after school programs.
Medifast has a history of giving back to the community through support and charitable contributions. The Community Impact program was established to provide additional opportunities for employees to volunteer at area organizations. These opportunities allow Medifast to build meaningful relationships outside of the office while also giving back to the community. The Community Impact program made its debut at the Johns Hopkins Believe in Tomorrow Children’s House earlier this year.
