Medifast Makes an Impact

Since the inception of the Medifast Community Impact Program, Medifast employees have been actively engaged in local volunteer opportunities throughout the Maryland region. Previous volunteer days have been organized with nonprofits including The Johns Hopkins Believe in Tomorrow Children’s House and the Maryland Food Bank, and most recently, Rebuilding Together Baltimore.

On September 25th, 19 volunteers from Medifast, alongside community leaders from Rebuilding Together Baltimore, provided upgrades and renovations to a homeowner’s property in Baltimore’s Woodbourne-McCabe neighborhood. The homeowner, who worked in hospital admissions before retiring, bought her house 20 years ago. The neighborhood, under-resourced for decades, was recently identified by Baltimore City as an area to revitalize by reinvesting in vacant properties.

Medifast employees assisted in home safety repairs, energy efficiency improvements and home modifications that made it easier for the homeowner to age in place. In addition, employees helped clean, paint and beautify a nearby park and alley in the Baltimore city neighborhood. From installing grab bars in the homeowner’s bathroom to cleaning up the alley and park behind her home, Medifast strived to make an impact in this local community!

“We are honored to support Rebuilding Together’s work to revitalize Baltimore and help provide a safer and more comfortable space for a local homeowner,” said Michael MacDonald, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Medifast. “Our employees are deeply committed to making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work.” IMG_0015
