Healthy fats are an important part of a well-balanced meal plan as they help you absorb the fat-soluble vitamins, A, D, E, and K, and help your gallbladder to work properly. That’s why they are a necessary part of the Lean & Green Meal. Unsaturated fat (omega-3, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated) have many health benefits and are found in foods like avocados, olive and canola oil, nuts and nut butters, seeds, and many salad dressings. When selecting fats, always read your Nutrition Facts Label for serving sizes, and consider replacing saturated fats with monounsaturated fats and omega-3 fats when possible.
Here are your best options when using Salad Dressing as your Healthy Fat on the Medifast Plan:

So I no longer have my gallbladder…yet I know healthy fats are still important. Is there anything else special that I should be doing since I don’t have it anymore?
Hi Sheila, The Medifast 5 & 1 Plan is low in fat and there are no modifications for people who have had their gallbladder removed. The low fat nature of the Medifast meals/program and the Lean & Green meal works well for people who have had their gallbladder removed as they typically are instructed by their physician to follow a low-fat diet. (As always, it is important to review a copy of the Quick Start Guide with your health care provider prior to beginning on plan).
Weight loss should not be effected by the lack of gallbladder, but you’ll still want to incorporate the Healthy fat servings for the absorption and storage of the fat-soluble Vitamins A, D, E and K. Fat intake on the 5&1 should be 10-34 g per day. Hope that helps!
