The last phase of the Medifast program is Maintenance. This is when Medifast teaches you how to keep your weight off by balancing your food intake based on the calories you burn.
Many people believe going healthy means radically altering your diet. But, changing your eating habits may be easier than you think. Altering your diet doesn’t necessarily mean overhauling your entire pantry or going 100% organic. With easy ingredient substitutions, you can satisfy your cravings without indulging in calories.
For example, when sautéing, instead of using vegetable oil, use vegetable or chicken broth. And when baking, substitute flax seed for eggs to get the same binding effect, and applesauce for butter for moistness.
See the infographic below for even more healthy ingredient substitutions.
Happy swapping!
What about sautéing with olive oil.?
Hi Kerri, Great question! Olive oil is very calorically dense, so we do not recommend using to sautee as you’d have to use much more than the 1 tsp serving size option when using as a Healthy Fat part of your Lean & Green meal.
Use Flax seed instead of eggs-never heard of that-will try:) Thanks, Carol Usher
